What happens if a person with minor impurity (Hadath Asghar) intending to perform Wudu puts water in his mouth and then remembers he is in a state of major impurity (Janabah)?
Chapter on the Obligation of Purification

Book of Purification
Primary text
If a person circulates water in his mouth, he has the choice to spit it out or swallow it, as the primary objective (of purification) has been achieved. If he puts the water in his mouth intending to lift the minor ritual impurity, and then intends to lift both minor and major impurities, both are lifted. This is because the water does not acquire the ruling of use until it leaves the mouth. If the water remained in his mouth until it mixed with his saliva and changed its state, it does not invalidate the purification, as change in the place that is subject to removal is not a barrier, similar to water changing state on a limb due to dough placed upon it.
