Is horn, nail, or hoof taken from a properly slaughtered animal pure?
Chapter on Utensils

Primary text
Horn, nail, and hoof are treated like bone. If taken from an animal slaughtered according to *Dhabh* (ritual slaughter, *mutadhakki*), they are pure. The supporting evidence is that anything cut from an animal while it is alive is considered *Maytah* (carrion), as stated in the Hadith narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hasan Gharib.
