Primary text

Regarding the statement 'If the blood returns, she should not regard it,' Abu Al-Hasan Al-Tamimi, Al-Qadi, and Ibn Aqil interpret this to mean when the blood returns after the established habit period and exceeds the maximum duration of menstruation. They argue this is because the statement forbade regarding it absolutely, implying repetition must occur for reconsideration. Al-Qadi suggests it might apply when the return is after the habit but does not exceed the maximum duration, meaning it is not regarded until repetition.

Abu Hafs Al-Akbari interprets the statement to apply universally to the recurrence of blood, whether within the habit period or after it, because the term used is unrestricted and covers all time periods. This latter interpretation is considered more apparent.
