Primary text
It is not obligatory to wash a garment dyed in a dye vat, regardless of whether the dyer was a Muslim or a non-Muslim. Ahmad explicitly stated this ruling based on the principle that the default state is purity. If impurity is confirmed, the garment becomes pure through washing, even if the color remains, as evidenced by the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him, concerning blood: 'Its trace does not harm you.'
