Primary text

It is permissible for a person who is *Junub* to remain in the mosque after performing ablution. This is the position held by our scholars (Ashabuna) and Ishaq. The evidence for this is what is narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam, stating that the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) used to converse in the mosque without being in a state of Wudu, and a man who was *Junub* would perform Wudu and then enter to converse. This implies a general consensus specific enough to restrict a general ruling. Furthermore, when ablution is performed, the ruling effect of the impurity is lightened, resembling Tayammum when water is unavailable. This lightness is indicated by the Prophet's command for the *Junub* person to perform Wudu before sleeping and the recommendation for Wudu before eating or resuming sexual relations.

The majority of scholars hold that remaining in the mosque is not permissible for a *Junub* person, citing a Quranic verse and a Hadith.
