Does Malik hold that elephant bones are pure if the elephant is slaughtered properly (dhabh)?
Chapter on Utensils
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
Malik held that if the elephant is slaughtered properly, its bones are pure; otherwise, they are impure, because he considered the elephant as an animal whose meat is permissible to eat if slaughtered correctly. This opinion is incorrect because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade the consumption of every wild beast possessing a fang (Narrated by Muslim), and the elephant possesses the greatest fang among them.
