Is a menstruating woman prohibited from reciting the Quran?

The menstruating woman is prohibited from reciting any portion of the Quran. This is based on the command of the Prophet, peace be upon him: “The menstruating woman and the one in *janabah* (major ritual impurity) shall not recite anything of the Quran.”
