Does moisture accompanying cotton exiting the urethra invalidate ablution?
Chapter on What Nullifies Purification
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If cotton is inserted into the male organ and then exits with moisture upon it, ablution is invalidated. This is because if the moisture had exited alone, it would have invalidated ablution; thus, it invalidates even when exiting with something else.
Supporting text
If the exiting cotton is dry, there are two opinions. One holds that it invalidates ablution because it is an exit from the passage, similar to all other discharges. The other holds that it does not invalidate ablution because there is no passage between the bladder and the internal cavity, meaning it is not exiting from the cavity.
