Chapter on what purification is achieved with regarding water

Primary text
It is recommended (*mustahabb*) that a woman scraping the hardened menstrual blood from her garment with her fingernail to remove its roughness, then pinching it to soften it before washing it with water. This practice is supported by the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to Asma regarding menstrual blood: 'Scrape it, then pinch it, then wash it with water,' which is agreed upon (Muttafaqun 'alayh). If one limits the cleaning only to removal by water, it suffices.
