It is recommended to dye hair with henna (Hinna) and Katam. Umm Salamah presented hair belonging to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, which had been dyed with Henna and Katam. Abu Bakr also dyed his hair with Henna and Katam. Furthermore, using Wurs and saffron is permissible, as Abu Malik Al-Ashja'i stated that their dyeing practice with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, involved Wurs and saffron.

Umar ibn Al-Khattab declared henna dyeing as the 'dyeing of Islam,' and yellow dyeing as the 'dyeing of faith' when shown to him by two brothers.
