Wiping over sandals is permissible based on the Hadith mentioning wiping over socks and sandals. The practice of the Prophet (PBUH) indicates wiping was applied only to the straps (*siyūr*) covering the top of the foot. Wiping the sole or the heel area of the sandal is not legislated, just as it is not legislated for the *khuff*.
