Chapter on Tayammum

Book of Purification

Book 2 · Issue 3 · Bab 10

Open in Qurani

Primary text

If the wounded person requires Wudu and the injury is on the face such that no part of it can be washed, Tayammum must precede the Wudu Tayammum. If the wound affects only part of the face, the person has the choice: either wash the sound parts of the face first and then perform Tayammum to complete the Wudu, or perform Tayammum first, then wash the sound parts and complete the Wudu.

Supporting text

The Qadi asserts that sequence (tartib) is obligatory. If the wound affects only part of the face, the individual may choose between washing the sound part first followed by Tayammum, or performing Tayammum first followed by washing the sound part and completing the Wudu.
