What is the required sequence if the wounds affect the face, hands, and feet while performing Wudu?
Chapter on Tayammum
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If the wounds affect the face, hands, and feet, a separate Tayammum must be performed in the place corresponding to the washing of each affected limb to maintain the required sequence (tartib) between the washing of sound parts and the substitute Tayammum for injured parts.

An alternative view suggests that this strict sequence is not obligatory because Tayammum is an independent purification, and sequence is not required between it and another form of purification, such as when a wounded person is junub. Furthermore, requiring a specific Tayammum for each location constitutes hardship, which is negated by the statement: "And He has not placed upon you any difficulty in religion" (Quran 22:78). Both Ibn al-Sabbagh and Al-Mawardi are cited as holding opinions supporting this less restrictive view.
