What is required of a woman experiencing irregular bleeding who discovers she missed prayers and fasting during her established cycle time?
Chapter on Menstruation
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If it becomes clear that she neglected prayer outside her established time, she must make up those prayers. Furthermore, she must make up any obligatory fasting she performed during her established cycle days. For example, if her cycle was three days at the beginning of the third decade, but she bled for seven days prior, she must make up the missed prayer and obligatory fasting during those seven days, and also make up the obligatory fasting performed during the three days because she fasted during her actual menstrual period.
Supporting text
She must perform ablution (Wudu) for every prayer and then pray. If her bleeding stops within fifteen days, she performs the major ablution (Ghusl) upon cessation and repeats this process a second and third time. If the bleeding is considered one continuous type, she acts upon that assessment and must repeat the fast if she fasted during these three instances for the obligatory fast.
