Does the requirement for washing the feet extend to areas under thick hair or other coverings?
Chapter on Wiping over the Khuffayn (Leather Socks)
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
The requirement of washing the feet does not extend to the area under thick hair, unlike minor purity. This is because the occurrence of major impurity (requiring ghusl) is rare, making it less burdensome to require washing the feet in that case, unlike minor purity. Similarly, the ruling applies to other coverings such as the turban (imamah), except for a splint (jabirah) or similar items.
