The ritual bath (Ghusl) is obligatory upon every penetrator and the one penetrated, provided they are among those obligated by ritual purity requirements. This obligation applies whether the intercourse occurred in the front passage (qabul) or the rear passage (dubur), involving a human being or an animal, whether the subject is alive or dead, willing or coerced, or asleep or awake.
