Is ritual purification (Wudu') obligatory after carrying a deceased body?

There is no established requirement for Wudu' after carrying a deceased body. This is based on the argument that if the hadith regarding obligation were established, it would necessitate Wudu' upon carrying the deceased, but Ibn al-Mundhir noted that the chain of transmission is too weak to establish this requirement. Aisha, upon hearing the statement attributed to Abu Hurairah that 'whoever carries him should perform Wudu',' dismissed it by stating, 'Is he anything but sticks that she carried?' The scholars are unaware of anyone who actually held this view regarding Wudu' upon carrying the deceased.
