What is the ruling on the discharge of customary substances from the two passages (urinary and anal)?
Chapter on What Nullifies Purification
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
The discharge of customary substances from the two passages, such as urine, feces, semen (*maniyy*), pre-ejaculatory fluid (*madhy*), post-ejaculatory fluid (*wady*), and flatulence (*reeh*), invalidates ablution (*wudu*) by consensus (*ijma'*). Consensus among scholars affirms that the exit of feces from the anus, urine from the male organ or female passage, the exit of *madhy*, and the exit of flatulence from the anus are all acts that nullify ritual purity and necessitate *wudu*. Ibn al-Mundhir documented this consensus among the people of knowledge.
