Primary text

There are two views. The first is that it does not become impure upon death because it lacks flowing blood, resembling the scorpion. If its impurity is doubted, the water remains on its original state of purity.

Supporting text

The second view is that it becomes impure, based on the saying attributed to Ali, peace be upon him, that if a gecko or a mouse dies in a well, the water should be poured out, and if it dies in a deeper well, the water should be drawn out until the matter is resolved.
