What is the ruling if one was certainly pure prior to the time of doubt regarding the subsequent state?

If one was certainly pure prior to the time of the conflict (before Dhuhr), then one is now considered impure. This is based on the principle established for the opposite case, as the certainty of the subsequent state (impurity) is not overcome by doubt concerning the prior state (purity).
