What is the ruling on partial removal or displacement of the wiped turban?
Chapter on Wiping over the Khuffayn (Leather Socks)
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If the turban becomes invalidated (*intaqadat*) after wiping over it, the purification is voided, as this is equivalent to removing the entire turban. However, if only a part of it is displaced, there are two transmitted opinions recorded by Ibn Aqil. One opinion holds that the ablution is not invalidated because only a part of the wiped surface is removed while the limb remains covered, analogous to scraping off part of the sock (*khuff*) while the lining remains intact. The second opinion states that the ablution is invalidated.
Supporting text
Al-Qadi ruled that if even one portion (*kawr*) of the turban is displaced, the ablution is voided because the wiped surface has been removed, similar to removing the sock entirely.
