What is the ruling on prayer when water is with one's slave, and the owner forgets the slave's location and prays, and then finds the slave and the water?
Chapter on Tayammum
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If the water remains with one's slave, and the master performs prayer having forgotten the slave's location, there are two possibilities regarding the necessity of repeating the prayer. The correct view is that since the negligence originated from another party (the slave), the master is not held accountable in the same manner as if he himself had forgotten.
Supporting text
One possibility is that this situation should be treated similarly to the case of one who forgets their water, thus necessitating a repetition of the prayer.
