Primary text

Animals without flowing blood are of two types. The first type, those generated from pure sources, are pure whether living or dead. The second type, those generated from impurities, such as the worms and crickets originating from filth, are impure whether living or dead, analogous to the offspring of a dog or pig.

Supporting text

The stated opinion of Ahmad, according to Al-Marwadhi's narration, is that crickets from latrines and drains, or those in a well, are not considered foul if they fall into a vessel or jug, because they do not consume filth.
