Primary text

If a man finds semen in a garment that he and others who experience wet dreams sleep in, Ghusl is not obligatory upon any of them. Since each individual, viewed in isolation, might not be the source, the obligation of Ghusl upon any specific person is doubtful. No one can rightfully assign guilt (sin) regarding ritual impurity to the other. In this scenario, since one of them is certainly in a state of major ritual impurity (Janabah), the prayers of both are invalid. This is analogous to when each person hears a sound of flatulence but suspects it came from the other, or is unsure of the source.
