What is the ruling if there is doubt whether a quantity of water near two Qullahs has reached the threshold to resist impurity?
Chapter on what purification is achieved with regarding water
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If one doubts whether the water has reached the quantity that repels impurity, there are two views. The soundest view is to rule it as pure, as the water was pure prior to the impurity, and doubt cannot remove certainty. Therefore, certainty of purity remains unless certainty of impurity is established.
Supporting text
The second view rules the water as impure, establishing the default premise on the water being scarce (less than two Qullahs), thus necessitating the ruling of impurity based on the default state of small quantities.
