What is the ruling on touching the private part of a deceased person?

Chapter on What Nullifies Purification

Al-Mughni

Book of Purification

Book 2 · Issue 8 · Bab 7

Open in Qurani

Primary text

Touching the private part of a deceased person nullifies Wudu, just as with a living person, because the name and sanctity (hurmah) remain due to its connection to the human being.

Supporting text

Ishaq holds that touching the private part of a deceased person does not nullify Wudu. Regarding a severed organ, there are two views: one stating it nullifies Wudu due to the remaining name, and another stating it does not, due to the loss of sanctity and sexual arousal, making it like touching dung.
