Primary text

A woman beginning menstruation (Mubtadi'ah) must wait for certainty over three months from the first blood she sees, or in two months, and then transitions to observing six or seven days. There are two scholarly views regarding combining (talfeeq) days: whether to combine the seven days from fifteen days, or sit for four days out of seven, paralleling the ruling for a woman whose habit is seven days. If seven days are observed, she sits for the first, third, fifth, and seventh days of flow. If six days are observed, the seventh day is omitted.

Supporting text

If talfeeq is applied, she adds the ninth and eleventh days if she sits for six days, or the thirteenth if she sits for seven days. The ruling is similar for a woman who has forgotten her habit.
