What is the ruling if a woman sees bleeding for less than a day and a night after fifteen days of purity?
Chapter on Menstruation
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
The view of the Qadi is that if the bleeding is less than a day and a night after fifteen days of purity, it is considered blood of corruption (*dam fasad*). In this case, she prays and fasts, and she does not need to make up the fasts. This is also the opinion of Abu Thawr.
Supporting text
If the second bleeding lasts for a day and a night, the ruling is that she prays, fasts, and makes up the fast, based on the principle that blood occurring during the timeframe of nifas is considered nifas, whether little or much. However, the blood observed during the period of purity for which she prayed and fasted requires no repetition.
