Is sexual intercourse with a menstruating woman prohibited?

Sexual intercourse in the vagina with a menstruating woman is prohibited. This is based on the saying of God Almighty: “And they ask you about menstruation. Say, 'It is an injury/harm, so keep away from women in menstruation and do not approach them until they are pure.' And when they have purified themselves, then approach them from where Allah has permitted you” (Quran 2:222).
