Does the subsequent removal or loss of washed facial hair affect the validity of the prior ablution?
Chapter on the Obligation of Purification
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If one washes this hair, and then it is removed, or a piece of skin is pulled off the hands, or a nail is cut or pulled off, it does not affect the validity of the prior purification. This is the view of the majority of scholars. The proof is that what is added beyond this (i.e., the washing) only serves to purify.

A narration from Ibn Jarir suggests that if the skin of the face becomes visible after washing the hair, it necessitates rewashing the skin, drawing an analogy to the wiping over the Khuff (leather socks). This is unsound because the obligation was transferred primarily to the hair, evidenced by the fact that washing the skin without the hair does not suffice, unlike the Khuff, where washing the feet is substituted by wiping them.
