What is the technical/juridical definition of Tayammum?

In the terminology of the jurists (*Fuqaha*), Tayammum has been transferred to mean wiping the face and hands with pure earth (*sa'eed tayyib*). This practice is permissible based on the explicit injunctions found in the Book (Quran), the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Ummah.
