Is washing the feet required immediately after removing socks that were wiped over, or is a full re-ablution necessary?
Chapter on Wiping over the Khuffayn (Leather Socks)
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If the separation (delay) between washing the rest of the limbs and washing the feet is deemed invalid (i.e., the principle of immediate succession *Muwalah* in Wudu is strictly enforced), then removing the socks nullifies the entire Wudu due to the breach of sequence. However, if the socks are removed before the water has dried from the hands, washing the feet suffices, treating the situation as if the socks were removed before wiping commenced.

Malik stated that if the socks are removed, washing the feet immediately validates the purity because the purity was sound up to that point, and immediate washing preserves the sequence regarding the other limbs. If the washing is delayed, a complete renewal of purity is required. The opposing view rejects this, arguing that once the ruling of wiping ceases, adding washing to the previous washing is meaningless; proximity to the previous washing is relevant only to washing succession, not to the succession of a washed limb to a previously wiped limb whose ruling has vanished.
