Is washing a missed area of the body after Ghusl invalidates the Ghusl or requires immediate washing?

If a person performs Ghusl and later remembers an area was missed, that area must be washed. If he had already prayed, he must wash the area and then repeat the prayer. This applies because Ghusl is not restricted by sequence or immediate succession in the same manner as Wudu.
