Is wiping over a leather sock (khuff) permissible if it has a heel (qadam) and a slit (sharj) aligned with the obligatory washing area?
Chapter on Wiping over the Khuffayn (Leather Socks)
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
Wiping over the leather sock is permissible if the slit is tightly fastened, covering the area of obligation, and there is no defect allowing the obligatory area to show. This ruling is supported by the reasoning that the leather sock provides complete covering and allows for normal walking, thus resembling one without a slit.
