Primary text

The obligation of *wudu* for every prayer for the *Mustahadah* is established based on the narration concerning Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh, where the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated, 'Wash the blood off yourself and pray, and perform *wudu* for every prayer.' This narration, deemed *Hasan Sahih* by Al-Tirmidhi, contains an addition that must be accepted. Furthermore, a narration concerning 'Adiy ibn Thabit concerning the *Mustahadah* mandates that she abstains from prayer during her usual days of menses, then performs *ghusl* and prays, and performs *wudu* at the time of every prayer. Since the blood exits the private part, it necessitates *wudu*, just as menstrual blood does. This indicates that the *ghusl* commanded in other narrations is recommended (*mustahabb*), not obligatory (*wajib*).

Supporting text

Ikrima, Rabi'ah, and Malik held that only *ghusl* upon the end of her menses is required, and no *wudu* is necessary for continuous bleeding, based on the apparent meaning of the narration of Hisham ibn Urwah from his father from Aisha regarding Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh, where only *ghusl* was commanded, with no mention of *wudu* for every prayer.
