Is the Wudu invalidated if a wound is on the face and the person performs Tayammum for it, followed by the prayer time expiring?
Chapter on Tayammum
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If the wound is on the face and the original requirement was Wudu, the validity of the Wudu depends on differing scholarly opinions regarding the obligation of sequence (Tartib) between Wudu parts and Tayammum. According to the opinion that mandates sequence, the Wudu is invalidated here. This is because the purification of the limb substituted by Tayammum has failed, and if subsequent purifications were to remain valid without sequence, they would precede the purification of the substituted limb, thus violating sequence.
Supporting text
The opinion that does not mandate sequence does not invalidate the Wudu, and the person is permitted to perform only Tayammum (for the rest of the necessary steps, or in lieu of the washing part).
