Contracting for an archery contest involving two groups is permissible. This is supported by the tradition where the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed a group shooting arrows to continue while stating, "I am with Ibn Al-Adra'", and when others objected, He affirmed, "Shoot, and I am with all of you." This tradition is narrated by Al-Bukhari. The rationale is that if the contest is valid between two individuals, it is valid between two groups, as the objective is to ascertain skill, which is achieved in both scenarios, similar to horse racing where contests are valid whether the horses have been specially trained (muḍmar) or not. Each party in the contest is treated as a single unit.
