The arrangement is invalid if the second-place finisher (musalli) is assigned a reward greater than or equal to the winner (sabiq), or if the third-place finisher (tali) receives a reward greater than or equal to the second-place finisher (musalli), or if the second-place finisher receives nothing. Such stipulations are void because they lead to participants intending to finish late rather than compete for the win, thus frustrating the primary objective of the contest.
