Is the husband's claim of reconciliation (rujoo') during the waiting period (iddah) accepted?

The husband's assertion during the waiting period that he reconciled with his wife yesterday or a month prior is accepted. This ruling is held by Al-Shafi'i, the companions of Abu Hanifa (Ahl al-Ra'y), and others. The reasoning is that once the husband possessed the right of reconciliation, he possessed the right to acknowledge (Iqrar) that reconciliation, similar to divorce.
