Is a revocation valid if the husband makes the statement without specifying any intent?

If the husband pronounces the formula of revocation without specifying any intent, the revocation is valid. This is because he uttered the clear statement of revocation and appended something that could be an explanation of its cause or something else entirely. Doubt should not invalidate the statement from its inherent meaning. This is the position of Al-Shafi'i.
