Primary text

If a husband reports that his wife informed him her 'Iddah had ended, and he takes her back (*ruju'*), and then she admits the falsity of her statement regarding the 'Iddah ending and confirms her 'Iddah has not yet completed, the *ruju'* remains valid. This is because the husband did not admit to the termination of her 'Iddah; rather, he merely reported her statement, and since she retracted her report, her retraction is accepted based on the principle established above.

An alternative opinion states that she must begin the 'Iddah anew because it involves a divorce concerning a consummated marriage, necessitating a complete waiting period, similar to the first instance.
