Primary text

The final time for slaughtering is the end of the second day of Tashreeq, meaning the days of sacrifice are three: the Day of Eid and the two days following it. This is the position of 'Umar, 'Ali, Ibn 'Umar, Ibn 'Abbas, Abu Hurayrah, Anas, Imam Ahmad, Malik, and Abu Hanifa.

Al-Shafi'i, 'Ata', and Al-Hasan hold that the sacrifice is permissible until the end of the days of Tashreeq (the third day), based on the Hadith stating, 'All of Mina is a slaughtering place.' Ibn Sirin restricted it only to the Day of Eid, likening it to the singular day for Eid al-Fitr. Some scholars permit it until the crescent of Muharram, though this is considered an unusual narration.
