Is it permissible to name a child before the seventh day?

It is permissible to name a child before the seventh day because the Prophet, peace be upon him, stated, "A boy was born to me tonight, so I named him after my father, Ibrahim." Additionally, when Anas ibn Malik brought the child born to him, the Prophet, peace be upon him, performed Tahnīk (sweetening the palate) and named him Abdullah.
