What is the liability if an obligatory sacrifice is lost or damaged without negligence while in the owner's custody?

If the sacrifice perishes in the owner's hand without negligence, or is stolen or lost, there is no liability upon the owner because it was a trust (*amanah*) in his possession, and he is not liable for it unless there was negligence, similar to a deposit (*wadi'ah*).
