Primary text

If the defect in the designated animal disappears—such as weakness receding, illness being cured, or lameness disappearing—the established view within the school is that the sacrifice is valid. This is because the validity is assessed based on the state of the animal when it was designated. Furthermore, any subsequent positive change (like improvement in condition) belongs to the poor, similar to how a deficiency occurring after designation does not invalidate the sacrifice.

Supporting text

The companions of Al-Shafi'i argue that it is not valid because the consideration is given to the state at the time of designation.
