If the prohibition is established, then abstaining from cutting hair and trimming nails is required. If one does so, they must seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty. There is no expiation (fidyah) required for this action by consensus, whether done intentionally or forgetfully. This opinion is narrated from 'Ali, Ibn 'Umar, Ibn Mas'ud, Ibn 'Abbas, and 'Aishah, may Allah be pleased with them, and is held by 'Ata', Tawus, Salim, al-Hasan, 'Amr ibn Dinar, al-Thawri, al-Awza'i, al-Shafi'i, Abu Thawr, and the Ashab al-Ra'y (People of Opinion).
