The sacrifice (Aqiqah) is superior to giving charity equal to its monetary value, as affirmed by Ahmad. Ahmad suggests that if one lacks the means for the Aqiqah, borrowing money for it is hoped to result in divine replacement, fulfilling the revival of a Sunnah. Ibn al-Mundhir agrees, stating that reviving and following Sunnahs is preferable, noting the great emphasis placed upon Aqiqah in narrated traditions compared to other acts. Furthermore, Aqiqah is a sacrifice commanded by the Prophet, placing it above mere charity, similar to the Walimah (wedding feast) and Udhiyah (sacrifice). This view is held by Ibn Abbas, Aisha, Shafi'i, Ishaq, and Abu Thawr.
