The expense for the measurer (*kayyāl*) or weigher (*wazzān*) concerning goods sold by measure or weight rests upon the seller. This is because fulfilling the sale contract requires the seller to deliver possession (*taqdīḍ*) of the sold item to the buyer, and possession is not established except through this measurement or weighing. This principle is analogous to the seller of fruit being responsible for watering it. Similarly, the fee for the counter of counted items (*'addādāt*) falls upon the seller.
