If the buyer consumes the food or wears and destroys the garment, he is entitled to claim the compensation (*arsh*) for the defect. This is the view held by Abu Yusuf and Muhammad.

Abu Hanifa holds that the buyer receives nothing because he destroyed the item, similar to the case where a slave is killed.
