What constitutes physical separation (Tafarruq) in different locations?

When parties are in a large house with chambers and rooms, separation occurs by one moving from one room to another, or to a sitting area (majlis or suffah), or vice versa. If they are in a small house, separation occurs if one ascends to the roof or exits the house. If they are on a small ship, separation occurs when one exits and walks away. If the ship is large, separation occurs when one ascends to the upper part while the other remains in the lower part. This entire description aligns with the Madhhab of Imam al-Shafi'i.
